2021 Summer Children’s Classes

Welcome to DSC Summer ’21 – we will be offering zoom and also classroom programs.

Zoom Classes

For ZOOM individual classes (one student, one teacher) there will be two 30 minute classes each week, choose:

  • 10-week term (June 28 – Sept 3rd) (total 20 meetings of 30-min each, $14 each, Total: $280)
  • 7-week term (July 5th -August 20th) (total 14 meetings of 30-min each, $14 each, Total: $196)
  • Optional – One 30-minute session per week (Total: $140 for 10 weeks or $98 for 7 weeks)

In-Person Classes

For CLASSROOM in-person group classes, we will have a 7-week term (July 5th-August 20th) either on Thursday or Wednesday afternoons. Select a group based on proficiency and age. Teachers Brittney or Ludmila can help with a group selection.

WEDNESDAY: for students with no or basic knowledge

  • Play with German (Ages 3-4.5) Wed. 1-1:30 pm (3 students minimum, 7 classes of 30-minutes each; Total: $70 per child.
    This class will introduce German via songs, puzzles, games, and art activities designed for preschool-aged children. Dance, laugh, and learn German! 

  • Starting German 1 (ages 5-7) Wed 2-3pm (For students with no or basic German knowledge to be introduced to the language and culture); (3 students minimum, 7 classes of 60-minutes each, each $15; Total: $105 per child.)
    In this beginning class we will sing songs, play games, and familiarize ourselves with the German alphabet. Hands-on movement activities and crafts will ensure that your children stay active while learning. 

  • Starting German 2 (ages 8-10) Wed 3-4pm (For students with no or basic German knowledge to be introduced to the language and culture); (3 students minimum, 7 classes of 60-minutes each, each $15; Total: $105 per child.)
    We will learn letters, numbers, greetings, animals and beginning sentence structure while playing games and crafting. A mix of movement games and stationary activities create a welcoming environment for all types of learners.

  • Starting German 3 (ages 11+) Wed 4-5pm (For students with no or basic German knowledge to be introduced to the language and culture); (3 students minimum, 7 classes of 60-minutes each, each $15; Total: $105 per child.)
    Middle-school-age students will be introduced to the German alphabet and sentence structure, as well as the geography and culture of different German-speaking countries and regions. Games, puzzles, and outdoor activities make this a fun and easy introduction to the German language.

THURSDAY: for students with basic or intermediate knowledge

  • Play with German (Ages 3-4.5) Thu. 1-1:30 pm (3 students min., 7 classes of 30-minutes each; (for students with basic or intermediate knowledge) Total: $70 per child.
    This class will continue your child’s journey with the German language via songs, puzzles, games, and art activities designed for preschool-aged children. Come join other children as we play our way through the language.

  • German and Fairy Tales (ages 5-8) Thu.  2-3:30pm (for students with basic or intermediate knowledge) (3 students min., 7 classes of 90-minutes each, each $22.50; Total: $157.50 per child.)
    What is more German that Pretzels? Fairy Tales of course! We will read, listen to, and maybe even reenact some of Germany’s most iconic Fairy Tales. This course is designed to expand learner’s vocabulary, while at the same time exposing them to German culture.

  • Around the world (ages 8-12) Thu.  3:30-5pm (for students with basic or intermediate knowledge) (3 students min., 7 classes of 90-minutes each, each $22.50; Total: $157.50 per child.) What better way to improve German language skills than learning about the places German is spoken? We will learn the geography of German-speaking countries by drawing our own class map and look deeper at various towns and regions by exploring travel guides to must-see destinations.
