Summer Day Camps at DSC

Each summer, we provide students (ages 4-18) with fun, interactive, content-based learning activities. There will be every month one summer camp on Monday through Friday, 9 am – 2 pm (optional till 4pm). Registration includes all instructional materials and healthy snacks; however, lunches are not included. Dates and themes are listed below and registration will open on March 1st, 2026. 2026 Day Camp Dates and Themes for Children

  • June 15-19: German & STEAM (Ages 6-12)  (Tuition: $350/$315/$295)
    Explore language through the lens of science and the arts! Each day we will take one element of STEAM, and use hands-on activities to expand vocabulary and create a life-long love of language learning.
  • July 20-24: Nature & German (Ages 6-12) (Tuition: $350/$315/$295)
    We are surrounded by amazing plants and animals in our beautiful Oregon landscape. Children will compare the natural world in Germany and Oregon, and leave with an appreciation of our local beauty, and a desire to explore nature around the world.
  • August 10-14: Wet & Wild with German (Ages 6-12)  (Tuition: $350/$315/$295)
    Rivers and oceans. Lakes and streams. Water is everywhere in Germany. Every day we will look at a different water biome in Germany, and then play games, perform experiments, and create art to reinforce our learning. Come and get wet, play games, and learn German in a fun environment!

        Important notes:
        +The tuition cost is $350 per student/week/ 9-2pm
        + Post care 2-4pm is an additional $20/day or $90/week. 
        + Take 10% off the $350 tuition when you apply before May 1st, 2026. 
        + Sibling discounts (2nd, 3rd, 4th child of the same family) of $20 are only available till June 1st, 2026
        + The maximum size of each camp is 12 students.

        5-week Summer Term Courses – all ages

        July 27th and August 28

        Each summer, we provide students of all ages with a 5 week-term of fun, interactive, and content-based learning activities. There will be 5-week sessions for children, youth and adults between July 27th and August 28. The cost per student is different for each session. Sibling discounts are available.         Children and Youth

        • Tuesday 2-2:30pm: Parent-Child Class (Ages 2 – 4), Tuition $50.
          Join together for our short introductory class full of games and songs. All levels are welcome!
        • Tuesdays 3-5pm: German Sprouts (Ages 4-7), Tuition $150. 
          Does your budding linguist want a creative environment to explore the German language in? Do they enjoy crafts, music, sports and games? Then they will be a perfect fit for our Summer Sprouts program. We will focus on themes that younger children can relate to – family, pets, sports, and of course, themselves! All proficiency levels are welcome!
        • Wednesdays 3-5pm: German Stars (Ages 8-12), Tuition: $150
          Ready to take language learning to the next level? Our Summer Stars program will use games and crafts as a fun and firm foundation for vocabulary and grammar training. We will learn about pets, household objects, sports and family. All proficiency levels are welcome!
        • Thursdays 3-5pm: German Teen-Club (Ages 13-18), Tuition $150. 
          Is summer break too long to go without German? Or are you wondering if taking German during middle school or in high school is right for you? Then join the club and help shape our class. After the first day of games and introductions, topics and themes will be voted on, and the winning category will be explored the following week. Games and crafts will be designed to supplement vocabulary and grammar, and time will be allotted every week for exploring the books and materials available in our library!

        Adults (Ages 18+ & Youth 17+ with parental permission)

        • A1+ Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm: Reading, Tuition $70.
          This class will use a short book aimed at A1 and beginning A2 learners to improve our vocabulary and independent reading skills. In class, we will discuss the book, and also read and dissect shorter texts. By the end of this course, you will be more comfortable reading and speaking in a structured environment.  (BTC)
        • A1+ Tuesdays 6:30-7:30pm: German Conversation, Tuition $70.
          For many people, speaking a new language is the hardest part of language acquisition. The anxiety that goes along with making mistakes, and taking time to form sentences, often means that people neglect one of the most important aspects of language acquisition. Join us in a supportive environment where we will discuss A1 topics in Slow German – where there is no need to rush, and mistakes are just lessons we learn along the way! (BTC)
        • A2 Wednesdays 5:30-7pm: Grammar Review, Tuition $100.
          Get your grammar on track and communicate with more clarity. Our A2 Grammar review is a practical session for students who have completed Berliner Platz New 2 or are close to finish it, or students placing to the end of A2 or beginning of B1 levels. We will focus on more advanced sentence structure you need for both spoken and written production, ensuring you feel just as confident writing an letter as you are holding a conversation. It’s the perfect 90 min to sharpen your skills or refresh for an A2 exam at OSU this Fall. (AS)
        • B1+ Wednesdays 5-6:30pm: Explore German Literature by Reading & Discussion, Tuition $100.
          Love to read and explore culture and history? Join us and enjoy learning about five German-speaking  authors, their homes, historical influence and get inspired by their writing and art. Class taught in German, reading preparation expected (10-15 pages weekly). For students with min. of B1 proficiency. (LSP)
        • A1 Thursdays 5:30-7pm: Grammar Review. Tuition $100.
          Get your grammar on track and communicate with more clarity. Our A1 Grammar review is a practical session to smooth your sentences and master the essentials. We will focus on the core structures you need both spoken and written production, ensuring you feel just as confident writing an email as you are holding a conversation.         • A2 Thursdays 6-7:30pm: A Quick Trip Through Austria. Tuition $100.
          Let’s learn about Austria through readings and videos in German and English! We’ll start with general information about the country, its states, and some of its most important cities. Next, we will sail the Danube River through the Wachau Valley to Vienna, stopping off at cities along the way. The topics for the last two weeks will be chosen by class members and may cover such topics as foods, music and dance, national parks, and famous Austrians, from Mozart to Schwarzenegger. (AY)
        • German Baking Workshop Tuition $120 plus Materials $60
          Love to bake? Join our workshop with E. Bobe (former owner of Little Wuesten Cafe). We will make each week a different German/Austrian cake, share recipes and baking strategies. We will meet on three Fridays at 4-7 PM, July 31, August 7, August 14. We will bake in groups of two, enjoy coffee and cake during the waiting time, share recipes and take home part of a cake for our families. (This course is limited to 10 participants. This is a part of our Fundraising events for the 2026-27 academic year.)
        • Arting with DSC – Clay and Paper Workshop. Tuition $100.
          Love to create art? Join our Thursday 10-12 workshops with “Evergreen artists” who you may know from our HolidayFests and events. Come to make, glaze and plant your own clay pots and create a collages and cards with us. We will meet 5x on Thursdays during August. (This course is a part of our Fundraising program for the 2026-27 academic year.) No previous German or Art experience needed. Course taught in English.
        • DSC Felt and Crochet class – Painting with Needles and Hooks! Tuition $100 plus Materials $20
          Restore some zen this summer and learn a new hobby (and a little German) along the way. Over 5 weeks will teach (in English) complete beginners 2d needle felt painting and simple crochet! If you have ever wanted to learn a fiber art in a low-stress environment, now is the perfect time. No previous experience in either German, felting, or crochet required. Additional material costs for all 5 weeks is $50, and you will take home a beginning felting kit with plenty of wool roving to keep going, a small selection of crochet hooks and some yarn. (This course is a part of our Fundraising program for the next academic year. )

        Individual Classes and Programs – all levels

        Whether you are beginning your German language journey, or looking to further advanced skills, we will pair you with an instructor to fit your needs. These classes will match the pace of learning that you set. Want to learn quickly, and have time to put into an advanced track? Would you rather learn slowly in a relaxed environment? Something in between? We can accommodate your individual needs and learning style. In-person or via zoom!
